Mud 250 Micron Test Sieve is a standard tool for measuring the particle size of solids in drilling mud, using a 250-micron sieve.Mud is a suspended mixture of water, clay, chemical additives, and drill cuttings, characterized by viscosity, adjustable density, and debris-carrying capacity.
This sieve removes coarse drill cuttings larger than 250 microns, such as sand and rock cuttings. Excessive coarse particles in the mud can increase drilling fluid viscosity and density, wear drilling equipment, affect mud cake quality, and lead to wellbore instability. Screening can control the particle size of mud solids within a reasonable range, ensuring drilling efficiency and operation safety, while also providing data for adjusting mud properties.
The Mud 250 Micron Test Sieve effectively separates solid particles from liquid components in mud, improving screening efficiency and accuracy. It is particularly suitable for solids control in oil drilling and helps reduce drill bit wear. The screen mesh typically features an anti-stick design, reducing clogging of the mesh by wet mud particles, thereby extending the life of the screen. Furthermore, this screen is often used in conjunction with a vibrating screen. High-frequency vibration enhances mud fluidity, allowing fine particles to pass through the screen more easily, improving screening consistency and repeatability.
The Mud 250 Micron Test Sieve corresponds to a 50-mesh mesh, with a mesh size of 250 μm. To verify the micron size of the sieve, use specialized equipment or refer to a standard mesh-to-micron conversion chart. A 200-mesh sieve has a mesh size of approximately 74 μm (according to ASTM standards).
1 μm is approximately equal to 12,500 mesh, and 20 μm is approximately equal to 625 mesh. The pore size of a 40-mesh sieve is 400 μm, so 100 μm is finer than 400 μm. Generally speaking, a larger mesh number or smaller micron value indicates a finer sieve.

A vibration damper is installed on the bottom to effectively reduce vibration noise and equipment wear, extending service life. The sieves are available in 304 stainless steel or high-manganese steel. 304 stainless steel is corrosion-resistant and wear-resistant, adapting to the complex chemical environment of mud. High-manganese steel offers high hardness and strong impact resistance, enabling it to withstand the friction of coarse particles.
